SIEGE OF NAVIKANO IV - CHAPTER 5

Siege of Navikano IV - Chapter 5

“Brace for impact!” I yelled at everyone, even the clones. All the clones immediately moved to the side and grabbed railings. The crew, a split second later, did the same. Suddenly, another large flash appeared, and it lit the corridor, which was dark and poorly lit by small overhead emergency lights. There was a loud rumbling that followed, and the ship tiled and turned around. The power generator, which up to now has been humming in the background, stopped. The lights went off, and I realized I was floating. “What the heck?” I wondered out loud. “The artificial gravity control must have been destroyed,” an officer called from nearby, answering my question. “No, I mean what just happened in space!” I was pissed, “do you think I would care about the stupid gravity?” “Sir, I have no idea…” The officer said slowly. Our group floated down the upside down corridor and opened the door to the escape pods. There was a huge window at the end of the rows of escape pods, and we could see a lot of debris floating through space. “I wonder what happened…” an officer said slowly. “Don’t we all do?” I asked, sarcastically. I jumped into my space suit, and slowly squeezed myself into the escape pod. I activated the small engines of the ship and backed away from the Dynamo. As I swing the pod around, I could see the others moving towards the remaining sections of our fleet. I turned in my crash seat and gave a salute to the Dynamo, and clicked the full thrust button. My small ship leaped forward, slamming me into the back, and sped towards one of the four remaining cruisers at top speed. As I flew pass the fleet, I could see that almost all of the ships took a lot of EMP damage, and some look like they are heavily damaged by it. I slowed down the pod and moved inside the docking bay. I walked through the docking bay blast doors and towards the bridge. “I want a full report of what happened after military time 1490!” I said to the first bridge officer I saw. 1490 was the time when I left the bridge of the Dynamo and it was two minutes before the weird flash. “At 1490, most of our fleet was pulling back and the enemy was advancing. At 1491, the cruisers Athens and Apollo both took hits and exploded. At 1492, the cruiser Thompson was hit by a stray shot from an enemy cruiser and damaged. A little after that, two nuclear missiles impacted on the fifth and sixth battleships of the enemy fleet, completely destroying battleship number three through six and disabled battleships two. The flagship, Dynamo, took twenty hits on the bridge and lower section and received enough nuclear energy to burn 1500 acres of forest. The cruisers Thompson, lagging behind, was disabled and most of the crew killed…” the officer said. “Hold it!” I said to him, did you see what happened to the rest of the enemy fleet?” “Yes sir!” he said, “As said, four enemy battleships were destroyed or disabled, one was heavily damaged, out of the fourteen cruisers left, six were destroyed or disabled, and four were heavily damaged, most of the enemy carriers are either destroyed, heavily damaged, or disabled.” He answered. “OK, continue with our casualties resulting from the blast,” I quickly told him. “As stated, the Dynamo was disabled, but I see you have abandoned it before the blast, and the Thompson is disabled, also, three destroyers are destroyed, two heavily damaged, and we have five left.” He said to me, after clicking a few buttons and looking at a chart on his computer display. “Give me a report of the ships we have left, and send a message to the rest of the fleet that the Hurricane is the flagship of the fleet.” I told the commanding officer of the cruiser Hurricane. “There are four cruisers left, five destroyers left, forty-two chaos fighters left, and the carriers which were not involved in the fighting, sixteen of them.” He reported, while he also directed the communication officer to send out the message I asked him to send. “Sir, the enemy is retreating!” one of the bridge officers yelled, and sure enough, the enemy fleet in moving into a warp-zone gate and exiting the battleground, and the Navikano IV planet. “Send in our carriers to re-supply the planet’s civilians and troops, and all other ships prepare to return to Kamoria I for damage repairs and replace ships and fighters.” I said to everyone in the bridge. Just then, the rest of the fifth fleet arrived through inter-galactic space, and everyone on the bridge had an amusing expression as the Fleet Admiral requested us for the location of the enemy fleet. THE END.
