I'm Captain James Donning, commanding officer of the fleet flagship, the Dynamo. It has been 3 days since we left our base in Kamoria I, one of the many fortresses of the inner planets. Everytime i look out the view port, i see nothing, not even the stars or planets which marks space traveling. Stupid intergalactic flights, there's always nothing to see but this never-ending distorted field of space. My ship is part of the fifty-seventh fleet, which is one of the main detachments of the fifth fleet. "Prepare to exit I-space," the navigation officer called. In the bridge, there are seven main officers and many other petty officers. "Coordinate all the other ships to exit at the same section, we want to emerge together in case there is an ambush." i said to the navigation officer. Our fleet detachment is on a mission to relieve Navikano IV, which has been under siege by unknown alien forces for more than a week. "Exiting in 5 seconds!" called the officer. "Entering normal space." he said a moment later. Lines of light appeared along the observation view ports, and other ships of the fleet materialized into normal space. In front of us was the Navikano System, consisting of five planets and one son. Debris floating around was all that remained of the Navikano fleet which attempted to break out a few days ago. In the distance, enemy ships could be seen hovering about close to the planet Navikano IV. Navikano I was blown to bits when the enemy came, killing more than 32 million military and civilian personnels. Navikano II is a gas giant, and no attempts have been made to colonize it. Navikano III is still free of the invaders, and Navikano V has been taken four days ago. “Find out how many enemy ships are there, and their types.” I told one of the bridge officers. A minute later, my personal view screen lighted up, and a list of ship types and numbers popped up. --BATTLESHIPS: 15, CRUISERS: 20, ARMED CARRIERS: 12, UN-ARMED CARRIERS: 18, FIGHTERS: 250, PATHFINDERS: 6--. “Lieutenant! Are you sure there are Battleships in the enemy fleet?” I asked. “Sir, the computer input indicates that they are larger than any type of ship built by human hands,” the lieutenant said, “they must be a battleship.” I had a quick image of fifteen large ships ripping through our fleet, and I shuddered at the thought of having to face these never seen giants. “All carriers, stay back and make a fall-back position!” I said into the fleet-wide communication system. “Someone give me a list of all the assault ships!” I shouted over my computer. Another list appeared and replaced the list of enemy forces. --120 CHAOS FIGHTERS, 12 CRUISERS, 20 LIGHT ASSAULT SHIPS (Destroyers)--. “The odds are horrible,” I thought to myself, “we’ll be lucky to take out half of their fleet.” “Send a message to headquarters and request LOTS of reinforcements.” I told one of the officers sitting by the communication set. “All fighters, prepare to engage enemy fleet!” I yelled at the radio. “Affirmative!” the fighter group leader said. “All heavy units, prepare to open fire!” I said into another communication system. Our fleet turned, pointing our main guns at the enemy fleet. In the distance, the turrets of the enemy battleships and cruisers began to charge up for a shot. “FIRE!” I yelled. A whole broadside of shots erupted from our fleet and flew at the enemy. “So it begins…” I said in a whispery tone.
